OPPO has managed to offer attractive specs and features in the Reno series of Android mobile devices over its 2-year history. On the other hand, its design has become more than a little monotonous, especially over the last few generations. Now, it looks like the OEM might finally be ready to move on with the Reno 7 and its siblings compared to the existing 6 line.
The reliable leaker Bald Panda has posted a new image of an unfamiliar smartphone's rear panel on Weibo, allegedly associated with the Reno 7. It shows a camera hump large enough to accommodate what might be dual main shooters, along with 2 smaller lenses and a flash.
That in itself is not hugely unusual in late 2021, to be honest; however, this one stands out in that it is two-tone. Its main off-white rectangle, housing one of the larger lenses, acts as a backdrop for a smaller piece finished in blue and machine-cut so as to be superimposed over the upper half of the first hump.
This, then, might make for a radical evolution in OPPO Reno design (even if it would also be less pocketable, as the camera hump is technically raised twice over, after all). Furthermore, it is now also possible that this "7" variant might also launch with a flat AMOLED display, whereas the OEM has persisted with curved panels to date.
On the other hand, the "Reno 7 series" to which all these new leaks pertain is still pending official acknowledgement from its supposed maker. Should it truly exist, it is projected to launch before the end of 2021.
