OM Pen camera: Leak reveals design and pricing, 2 days before launch
The OM System OM Pen will be officially unveiled on Wednesday, September 9. As OM System has already shown in the teaser video embedded below, the camera’s design strongly resembles that of the Olympus Pen E-P7, though the new model features a built-in electronic viewfinder instead of a pop-up flash.
43rumors has now learned that the camera will launch in Europe for €1,089, without a lens, though a kit with a new 14–42 mm zoom lens is also expected to be offered. In the U.S., this is likely to correspond to a price of about $1,099. The camera is said to be equipped with the same 20-megapixel Live MOS sensor used in the more expensive OM System OM-3. The body is reportedly weather-sealed and features a flip-out display. 43rumors has also already shared two pictures of the camera.
According to the report, the camera features an unlabeled thumb wheel that can be used to adjust settings such as the aperture. The power switch has four positions: in addition to Off, Photo, and Video modes, there’s also an "S&Q" mode. This stands for "Slow & Quick" and allows for faster access to time-lapse, continuous shooting mode, and other features.
The mode dial on the top features not only a fully automatic mode and the typical PASM modes but also a "B" position for bulb mode, in which the shutter remains open for as long as desired, two user-configurable custom modes, a mode for selecting filters, and a mode for selecting scenes, such as "Sports" to prioritize a fast shutter speed.
