Dreame unveils gimbal cameras with massive 100 MP sensor and 200 MP tele camera
IFAWe discovered four concept cameras at Dreame’s IFA booth, which are intended to showcase what the manufacturer is working on. As is usually the case, such concepts are meant to showcase a vision of the future, they are not market-ready products. Whether or when these cameras will actually hit the market remains completely unclear.
The first of these concept cameras looks almost like a conventional compact camera, with the only difference being that the actual camera can be "folded out." This is because it sits on a motorized gimbal, which is designed to enable exceptionally stable video recordings. Since the gimbal can also rotate the camera backward, this camera is well-suited for selfies or vlogging. The camera features a joystick and separate control dials for the thumb and index finger, in addition to the large touchscreen.
Dreame is promoting the concept with a zoom lens featuring a variable aperture that reaches a maximum of f/1.4, as well as a 100-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor that does not currently exist. The text around the lens not only contains a typo in "Ambient Light Sensor," but also uses the Leica trademark "Summilux" – it's not clear if Leica agreed to this. The camera is said to be capable of recording 6K HDR video at 60 frames per second.
Dreame is also showcasing three variants of a "Gimbal Cinema Camera" at its booth. The single-camera variant resembles a compact camera, apart from its form factor. The dual-camera version adds a fold-out display. The version with three cameras, on the other hand, offers both an ultra-wide-angle camera and a 200 MP telephoto camera, and is said to cover a zoom range of 16 – 800 mm (35 mm equivalent).
