The Red Magic series of gaming smartphones is headed for an update, which is to be revealed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020. This has been confirmed by its maker Nubia, by way of a new Weibo post by its CEO, Ni Fei. The executive has also validated rumors that this device will have a 144Hz display.

Red Magic is a gaming-phone series that already sets itself apart by including variants with physical fans and rear panels with a distinctive RGB "racing stripe". Now, this emerging Nubia brand will distinguish itself further with a ground-breaking 144Hz AMOLED display. That advanced spec has recently been set in stone thanks to a teaser released by the company's CEO, Ni Fei.

This new missive also reveals that the phone containing this extreme new refresh rate will be unveiled at the upcoming MWC 2020 event. The next Red Magic is also currently rumored to feature a new charging standard that could go up to 80 watts (W).

In addition, despite being this series' 4th generation, this phone is thought to be called the Red Magic 5G on launch. This is because it will be the first of its line to rock this next-generation connectivity. Finally, it will also definitely be powered by the Snapdragon 865 and next-gen LPDDR5 RAM. All in all, these specs add up to an extremely competitive player-friendly mobile device.
