Nubia is about to release a couple of flagship phones that are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and the Z80 Ultra is one of them. Through teasers, the company has already showcased the camera capabilities of the phone, and now, it has unveiled a camera kit for the device, which converts the device into a retro camera with swappable lenses.
This isn't anything new for the company's line of flagship phones, as Nubia released something very similar for the Z70S Ultra. As a matter of fact, the core design of the new version doesn't seem to have seen any noticeable change.
Nonetheless, with this accessory installed, the Nubia Z80 Ultra gets a dedicated shutter button, which is present on the top plate of the kit. There are other physical buttons and knobs on the top plate as well, and the company highlights that the kit has a quick-release handle for easy assembly and disassembly.
The most interesting bit about the kit is that it offers the ability to install lenses and filters. As the promo photos show, the package will come with two lenses that mount on top of the primary camera of the Z80 Ultra. Nubia hints that these swappable lenses can enhance portrait captures by providing an extended equivalent focal length, offer improved macro and telephoto shots, or convert the primary sensor of the phone into an ultrawide camera.
Nubia also includes a filter that attaches to the same mount, and it's possible the brand will launch more filters that improve the photography experience with the phone a bit more (DJI Osmo Mobile SE gimbal curr. $58 on Amazon).
Regarding the launch, the Photography Kit for the Nubia Z80 Ultra will be unveiled during the phone's launch event. For those who missed our previous coverage, this event is set for October 22, 2025, in China.
