Nothing doesn't plan to announce a follow-up to the 2024 Ear (Open) yet. However, a cryptic post by the manufacturer hints at a new color for the pair of open-ear earbuds.

It has been over a year since the launch of the Nothing Ear (Open), and if you are waiting for a follow-up to the open-ear earbuds, your wait hasn't come to an end, yet. However, Nothing is planning to announce a new variant of the Ear (Open).

A cryptic post shared by the official Nothing account on X shows the Pokémon, “Flaaffy”, in blue. The post is a quote of another that was made back in 2024, of the same Pokémon, but in pink. Many have interpreted this to mean that the Nothing Ear (Open) will be launching in a new blue color that will join the existing white.

For those who don't know, Nothing uses Pokémon characters as the codenames for its products, and that specific Pokémon is linked to the Ear (Open).

The Ear (Open) have an ear-hook design and can be adjusted to fit the shape of the ears for a comfortable fit. Each earbud features a 14.2 mm dynamic driver and weighs 8.1 grams. The earbuds (and the case) have an IP54 dust and water resistance rating, connect via Bluetooth 5.3, and have support for Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair. There is also Bluetooth Multipoint which means they can be connected to two devices simultaneously.

The earbuds have support for AAC and SBC codecs, and users can adjust the EQ via the Nothing X app. They also feature a low-lag mode for gaming, ChatGPT integration, and pinch controls.

The battery life for the Nothing Open (Ear) is 8 hours of playback time on a single charge and a total of 30 hours with the charging case. There's support for fast charging, as a quick 10-minute charge will provide up to 10 hours of use. The Nothing Ear (Open) can work with both Android and iOS devices.

Nothing is yet to announce when the new color will be unveiled, but it most likely will happen soon. However, if you don't care for the new color, the white version is currently on sale for $99 on Amazon, which is 34% off the launch price. Do read our review before you jump on the deal.
