Apple has settled a class-action lawsuit for $250 million over the delayed rollout of Siri’s Apple Intelligence features. U.S. owners of iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro models purchased between June 2024 and March 2025 may be eligible for a payout of up to $95. Here is everything you need to know.

As per reports, Apple has now reached a $250 million settlement to resolve a class-action lawsuit involving claims of false advertising and unfair competition.

The legal battle centered on the new Siri - a supposed cornerstone of Apple Intelligence, which the tech giant heavily promoted during the iPhone 16 launch but delayed several times.

Delayed Siri features: Why Apple settled and agreed to pay iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 series users $250 million

The lawsuit alleged that Apple misled consumers by showcasing a smarter, context-aware Siri at WWDC 2024 and in subsequent iPhone 16 marketing campaigns. However, by March 2025, several new Siri features had not been released, leading Apple to pull the ads.

Claimants argued that iPhone users were incentivized to purchase new iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models for the AI capabilities that "did not exist or were materially misrepresented."

While (technically) Cupertino has not admitted to any wrongdoing, Tim Cook & Co stated they settled to "stay focused on doing what we do best" and to avoid the mounting costs of litigation.

Eligible users who file a claim will receive at least $25 per qualifying iPhone.

The $250 million fund will provide financial compensation to US-based iPhone users who purchased eligible "AI-ready" iPhones during the marketing period.

  • Eligible users who file a claim will receive at least $25 per qualifying iPhone; depending on the total number of claims submitted, this figure could rise to as much as $95 per device.
  • Eligible devices:iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max
  • Purchase window: The iPhones must have been purchased between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025.
Despite the settlement, Apple remains committed to its AI roadmap, citing the successful rollout of other features like Genmoji, Writing Tools, and more.

Apple will reach out to qualifying iPhone users via an email

As per MacRumors, the settlement has received preliminary approval. Eligible owners should keep an eye on their inboxes, as formal email notices containing claim instructions are scheduled to be sent out within the next 45 days.

Despite the settlement, Apple remains committed to its AI roadmap, citing the successful rollout of other features like Genmoji, Writing Tools, and Visual Intelligence as evidence of its continued innovation in the space of AI.

In related news, Google’s Gemini is expected to power the new Siri, which is expected to (finally) launch at WWDC 2026 between June 8-12. After all, perhaps Apple was never going to make it on its own in the space of... Apple Intelligence.
