iPhone 15 is best-selling smartphone worldwide in latest study
The iPhone 15, 15 Pro Max and 15 Pro are #1, #2 and #3 respectively in Counterpoint Research's latest Top 10 Best-selling Smartphones list.
Based on data from the third quarter of 2024 (3Q2024), the findings suggest that Android devices are still less popular than their Apple counterparts, and that the demand for higher-end devices remains strong.
Then again, the vanilla 15 accounted for half of the iPhone sales in the report (which, oddly, did not mention the larger 15 Plus option).
Meanwhile, the more affordable Samsung Galaxy A15 5G and its 4G/LTE-only counterpart (a device that now starts for just $149.99 on Amazon) rounded out the top 5, while the vanilla S24 scraped in at #10.
It was the only member of its flagship series to make it into this list, and was beaten to #9 by the Redmi 13C 4G.
Now that the iPhone 16 has been released, it will be interesting to see if its recycled camera hump and A18 platform can shake these rankings up during the final quarter of 2024.
