New WhatsApp update brings unexpected green screen issue to beta program
The WhatsApp beta channel has recently pushed out version 2.24.24.5. It brings a new "Draft" label to the chat list when messages are left unsend, and it's also meant to offer performance improvements and fix existing bugs. However, as users are running the beta version report, a new bug has been introduced that makes the screen green when opening a chat.
Fortunately, this isn't the same green screen issue that requires you to replace or repair the display. Instead, it simply displays a solid green color when opening a chat and goes away when you get out of WhatsApp. This isn't the only issue that's present in the latest beta version, however.
Users are also reporting that the beta app crashes on startup, making WhatsApp unusable. Of course, these are nothing unexpected, as beta versions of apps are never meant to be as stable as their public release counterpart.
If you are one of the testers experiencing these issues, the only solution is to revert to the stable build, which appears to be free from the green screen and startup crash bug. In that case, you should note that WhatsApp beta versions roll out as app bundles instead of standard APKs, and due to restrictions in Android, you can't easily revert to an old version.
So, it's better to uninstall the beta version and install the current stable version of WhatsApp (2.24.22.79). You can get the installer from APKMirror, which is known to be a reliable source for Android apps. Also, as a lot of users are reporting the issues, it's possible that the developers will soon release a fix.
