Samsung's Galaxy Buds Able have been spotted in One UI firmware with a radical new design. The new earbuds feature a clip-on design and bone conduction technology, offering a unique open-ear alternative to the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro.

New details have emerged from recent One UI firmware leaks offering an exclusive first look at Samsung's upcoming audio experiment - the Galaxy Buds Able.

Moving away from traditional driver-based audio, Samsung’s new earbuds represent a bold shift toward bone conduction technology (which isn’t something new, of course).

Unlike the standard Galaxy Buds lineup, the "Able" model features a unique clip-on design. There are curved, clip-on hooks that wrap around your ear to stay in place, utilizing vibrations sent through the cheekbones to deliver sound directly to the inner ear.

This bypasses the eardrum entirely, making them a standout choice for users who prioritize being aware of their surroundings. Since the design is inherently open-ear, users can stay connected to their environment without needing a digital transparency mode.

Apart from the benefits like reduced sound leakage and comfort, there are trade-offs. The Galaxy Buds Able won't match the bass response or detail of the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, while ANC (active noise cancellation) is physically impossible with this form factor.

Expected to launch as early as this summer alongside the Galaxy Fold 8 Wide, these earbuds are positioned to sit between the standard Buds 4 and the Pro model in Samsung’s growing wearable ecosystem. It’s safe to say they aren’t replacing more traditional ANC earbuds anytime soon.

All in all, the Galaxy Buds Able will enter a growing "open-ear" market popularized by the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds and Huawei FreeClip - both of which use "cuff" designs that clip onto the outer ear. While most rivals, like the Shokz OpenFit, rely on air conduction (small directional speakers), Samsung’s "Able" distinguishes itself by using bone conduction.
