After the Nomad ChargeKey was originally launched in 2023, the company is now relaunching the short USB-C cable for the key ring. The latest model of ChargeKey can charge devices with up to 240 watts instead of just 60 watts, meaning that even more powerful laptops such as the Apple MacBook Pro can be charged without limitations.
The upgraded model is also more powerful in terms of data transfer: while the older ChargeKey model was limited to USB 2.0 and 480 Mbit/s, the new cable allows data to be transferred at up to 10 Gbit/s. As Nomad highlights, ChargeKey V2 thus supports the highest possible data rate that the Apple iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro can handle, making the cable perfect for connecting an external SSD to Apple's latest flagships.
Nomad has not made any major changes to the design. The USB-C housing is still coated in zinc alloy and has integrated magnets so that the two ends of the cable stick together when not in use and do not swing around on the key ring. The cable, which is 12.6 centimeters long in total, is said to be particularly durable thanks to its nylon braided sheath.
Price and availability
The Nomad ChargeKey V2 is now available from the manufacturer's online store at a price of $25. Shipping fees are $6 (standard) or $11 (express) for customers in the USA. Global shipping is available: import fees are already included, but shipping prices will naturally vary from country to country.
