Nokia 8 Oreo update teased by HMD executive
With Sony and Motorola setting out official roadmaps for their Oreo update plans, it was always only a matter of time till others followed suit. The latest OEM to announce its plans for Oreo is HMD Global, with its CPO, Juho Sarvikas, coming out on Twitter to confirm that Oreo for the Nokia 8 is closer to release than ever before.
HMD's plans for Oreo are something of an open secret, as the OEM's limited offering of devices—four, at the moment—ensures that all of its smartphones can be expected to get the Oreo update, especially since the oldest of them was launched only months ago.
"We are on it @nokiamobile . @Android," the tweet read "#Oreo maturing nicely on #Nokia8 , will release when perfect. Stay tuned!"
Users of Pixel and Nexus devices—the only set of devices that have received the Oreo update at the moment—have complained of a number of bugs, most notable being a significant drop in battery performance. We expect that it's minor bugs like this that keep Oreo from being pushed out to Nokia 8s around the world.
We'll be sure to keep you updated on this.
