HMD Global sends out invites for an October 31 event
HMD Global is sending out invites for a launch event scheduled for October 31 in India. The event is to take place in New Delhi and will be a global one, as opposed to a launch for the Indian market exclusively.
No one knows exactly which device will be launched and the list holds a few candidates with the Nokia 2, 7, and 9 being possibilities. The Nokia 7 is the most likely one, as it was officially announced at the end of last week. The invite reads:
"HMD Global invites you to an exclusive gathering to unveil the next milestone for Nokia phones"
The wording on this points towards a device that can at least compete globally, which narrows the list down to the Nokia 7 and the Nokia 9. The Nokia 7 looks to be the best mid-ranger of the year so far, especially with some users of the Moto X4—probably its biggest competitor—complaining of camera issues. It wouldn't be at all surprising to have the Nokia 7 referred to as "the next milestone for Nokia phones". The Nokia 9 is also an option, albeit an unlikely one, as the Nokia 8 launched a few months ago, and only just went on sale in India last week.
The Nokia 2 isn't up for the running for the most part, as we find it hard to believe HMD Global would arrange such an expectedly grandiose event for a device of that caliber. There's a chance it may be released alongside the Nokia 7, though.
