Samsung Galaxy S8 with Oreo spotted on Geekbench

A Galaxy S8 has been spotted running on Oreo. This lends credence to earlier information that Samsung was testing Oreo for the S8. Promising as this may be, it may yet be a while till S8 owners get the Oreo update.

With Oreo released a while back, it's no surprise that OEMs are getting ready to push updates for their various devices (You can check this list out to see if your device will be receiving Oreo). Users of Nexus and Pixel devices having gotten updates from Google already and it looks like owners of this year's Samsung flagships may be next on the list, with the S8 being spotted on Geekbench with Oreo under the hood.

The device, listed as an Exynos 8895 variant, was running on Android Oreo 8.0, which is the only version of the package available at the moment. It's 2029 single core and 6845 multi-core scores are about par for the device, though, which is just a tad disappointing, as Android updates have been known to bring performance boosts.

Owners of the S8 are yet to make the upgrade to Android 7.1.1 Nougat, so unless Samsung plans on making the jump to Oreo directly, it may be a while before the S8 has a taste of some cookie goodness.
