HMD has proclaimed its dedication towards providing steady updates for its devices. The company has promised that all of its devices will receive the update to Android P when it's released—yes, even devices like the sub-$100 Nokia 1 and Nokia 2.

HMD released the Nokia 3, 5, and 6 as the first set of devices in its portfolio. The devices were launched on Android Nougat, and have all received the update to Nougat. That isn't the end of the journey for users of the devices, though, as the company is determined to provide the update to Android P too.

The Finnish company <g class="gr_ gr_17 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del" id="17" data-gr-id="17">brought</g> the Nokia brand back to the smartphone scene last year. The company has come in leaps and bounds since then, going on to end 2017 as the 11th-largest smartphone brand in the world, ahead of companies like Sony and Google. 2018 has been even more impressive, with devices like the Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia X6, and Nokia 6.1 all receiving huge media attention and critical acclaim.

This success is, in part, due to HMD's business strategy that relies on the legacy of the Nokia brand. The fact that the company is set to provide Android P for its devices also shows that it's not all just talk, especially since Nokia devices were one of the first to receive the Oreo update last year.

For instance, LG's G6 flagship is yet to receive Oreo in most parts of the world, while budget devices like the Nokia 3 have all received the update since last year. That is commendable.
