Renders of the Nokia 5.1 Plus surface as HMD makes plans for Snapdragon 710-powered device
HMD has already released a number of devices this year, with most getting a positive reception. The Finnish company is set to unveil yet another offering in the coming months—the Nokia 5.1 Plus.
The company already unveiled the Nokia 5.1 towards the end of May, so it’s a bit hard to figure out where exactly this device is supposed to stand in the HMD hierarchy. Not much is known about it, either, but authentic-looking renders have surfaced, giving us a short glimpse into the Nokia 5.1 Plus’s design.
Going by the images, the Nokia 5.1 Plus will sport an 18:9 display. That resolution has become commonplace now, so it’s nothing special. Of more interest to some would be the fact that the device sports a notch. So far, only the Nokia X6 has offered that.
The renders also show the Nokia 5.1 Plus with a dual rear camera setup. Note that even the Nokia 6.1 didn’t offer that particular feature, so it’s likely that the Nokia 5.1 Plus sits above the Nokia 6.1 and below the Nokia X6. That, of course, begs the question of what point the device is supposed to serve. It already looks quite similar to the Nokia X6, and will likely feature identical specifications.
Meanwhile, HMD is said to be working on a Snapdragon 710-powered device. Nothing much else is known about the device apart from the facts that it will be released in the autumn or winter, and is codenamed “Phoenix”.
