Vivo might not be a big name outside of China, but it looks like this underdog is following the right path. While those like Samsung and Huawei are still silent, Vivo already revealed that its customers should get ready to receive Android 9.0 Pie in Q4 2018, although no accurate date has been mentioned yet.
According to Android Authority, the Vivo X21 and the Vivo Nex will probably be the brand's first two handsets to get Android 9.0. Unfortunately, the Chinese phone maker's reply to the questions about the update's arrival is rather elusive: "Designing for consumers’ needs continues to be Vivo’s top priority. Upgrading to the latest Android Pie operating system to deliver better mobile experience is therefore an area Vivo is working on bringing to consumers as soon as possible."
The most interesting part about the Android Pie update is that the new major version of Google's mobile operating system has already started to roll out to the Essential Phone — after the Google Nexus handsets, of course. The other brands should come forward with the news in the weeks to come. However, based on the Android Oreo's arrival, Samsung will probably update the compatible phones mid-2019 or later, but Android One-based handsets might get Android Pie in a month or two, the most.
