Apple to drop AMD's lower-end GPUs, replace them with proprietary 5 nm GPUs by 2H 2021

Apple's in-house chip lineup based on ARM's cores that currently includes plans for laptops and possibly workstations will soon be expanded with discrete GPUs made on TSMC's 5 nm node. Based on the iGPUs found in the Bionic SoCs, these discrete GPUs are codenamed Lifuka and are expected to first release on next year's iMacs. Apparently these new dGPUs will replace AMD's lower-end solutions, but team red will still provide professional models for the Mac Pro workstations.

While Battle for Azeroth requires a fast HDD with at least 70 GB of free space, the upcoming expansion of Blizzard's World of Warcraft — Shadowlands — apparently needs an SSD with 100 GB of free space or more. The eight major installment in the World of Warcraft series is expected to arrive at the end of October on all continents.

Samsung has announced that it has started fabricating 16-gigabit LPDDR5 RAM for mobile devices. Samsung claims that its new fabrication process is a breakthrough in RAM scaling as well as bandwidth. Expect to see the new RAM in Samsung’s Galaxy S21 due for launch in Q1 2021.
