The Lemokey P1 HE has proven itself to be an impressive wireless gaming keyboard, bringing the same Hall effect switches, reliable wireless connectivity, and in-depth customisation software we loved in our Keychron K4 HE review to an affordable full aluminium chassis. Now, Keychron has updated the Lemokey Hall effect gaming keyboard line-up with the Lemokey P2 HE, which takes what makes the P1 HE special and applies it to a smaller chassis with some enthusiast touches.
Lemokey P1 HE specifications and features
The Lemokey P2 HE features a compact 65% layout, with a customisable volume knob, although there is some spacing between the bottom row's modifier keys and the arrow cluster, so it will likely be easier to get used to than the proper compact layout we struggled with in our Lofree Flow Lite review. Another highlight of the P2 HE is that it comes equipped with familiar Cherry profile keycaps made from double-shot PBT. Lemokey offers the P2 HE in both black and white colourways, and both options come with an option for shine-through keycaps, which pairs well with the north-facing per-key RGB backlighting.
Basic specifications:
- Switches: Gateron Double-Rail Magnetic Nebula HE switches
- Layout: 65% ANSI-US
- Keycaps: Double-shot PBT, shine-through or non-shine-through, Cherry profile
- Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.2, 2.4 GHz, USB-C wired
- Battery capacity: 4,000 mAh
- Weight: 1,430 g
- Case material: Aluminium
- Plate material: Aluminium
The most exciting feature coming to the P2 HE, though, is rapid disassembly, which is a tool-less disassembly method employed on a bunch of modern enthusiast mechanical keyboards, and a handful of pre-builts, like the Monsgeek M1 V5 TMR (curr. $139.99 on Amazon). Effectively, this means that users of the P2 HE can quickly disassemble the keyboard to swap out internal foams and gaskets to test out different configurations and find out which is more to their liking. Unlike the Poron foam gaskets used on many Keychron keyboards, the Lemokey P2 HE uses silicone bean gaskets, which will give the keyboard a slightly stiffer, bouncier feel.
On the topic of customisation, the Lemokey P2 HE also uses QMK firmware, which means it's compatible with Keychron Launcher, which has been a major positive to us in our reviews of previous Keychron products, like the Q13 Max and the M6 8K wireless ergonomic mouse.
The Lemokey P2 HE is available from Lemokey directly at $169.99, which is $30 more than the $139.99 Keychron K4 HE, although that keyboard uses a stiff tray mount and a plastic case.
