The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8T are now receiving new updates. No, the updates don't bring Android 10 to the phones, but that isn't far away either as Xiaomi is expected to begin the Android 10 rollout after fixing the bugs it discovered in an early firmware.

The Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8T are currently receiving new updates. The two phones remain stuck on Android Pie, and while Android 10 is on the way, the new updates to the phones don't bring the much-awaited OS upgrgrade, meaning Redmi Note 8 owners will have to wait a while longer.

The updates for the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8T deliver the June security patch. For the Redmi Note 8, it carries the build number "MIUI 11.0.5.0.PCOIDXM" signifying its a build for the Indonesian market. The update is also being sent out in Xiaomi's home China, albeit with the build number "V11.0.7.0.PCOCNXM".

The Redmi Note 8T is a Europe-only variant of the Redmi Note 8 with NFC, and it's also getting the June security patch—a circa 400 MB download with the build number "MIUI 11.0.4.0.PCXRUXM" showing that it's an update for the Russian market.

Xiaomi actually started sending out a beta Android 10 update wrapped with MIUI 12 to the Redmi Note 8 last week, but quickly suspended the rollout after discovering major bugs. We expect the Android 10 rollout for the Redmi Note 8 to begin afresh in the coming weeks after those issues are, hopefully, sorted out.
