New Xbox Series X refresh pictures leak alongside rudimentary hardware upgrade and pricing information
Last year, FTC’s case against Microsoft's acquisition of Activision/Blizzard proved to be a goldmine of undisclosed information. Courtesy of the leaks that followed, we got to know about the Xbox Series X and S refreshes codenamed “Brooklin” and “Ellewood” respectively. Both consoles were expected to be announced in summer 2024 with launches happening a few months later.
Contrary to Sony’s approach with the PS5 Pro, Ellewood and Brooklin Xbox Series refreshes were supposed to bring only some minor spec bumps like Wi-Fi 6E and no increase in horsepower. Brooklin, the Xbox Series X refresh, was an all-digital console with a new cylindrical design. However, according to alleged Xbox Series X refresh images posted by eXputer, the console might not deviate from the general design of its predecessor at all.
Per eXputer’s pictures, the all-digital Xbox Series X features the same chassis design as the original console but comes in a new all-white finish. So, aside from the absence of the disc drive that is present on the OG Series X at the front, the white Series X refresh appears to retain the same ports and buttons at the same locations.
Finally, eXPuter also claims that the new Series X will have an enhanced heatsink and could cost less than the $499 price of the original Series X (Available on Amazon).
Before we wrap this up, we should mention that the photos of the purported Series X refresh, which happen to be low quality, can be fake. So, we won't know what the end product will actually look like until the official release.
