Graugear has introduced a new iteration of its M.2 SSD cooling solution for the Sony PlayStation 5. The small accessory should reduce SSD temperatures by up to 25°C and is easy to install.

Accessory manufacturer Graugear has unveiled another SSD heat pipe for the PlayStation 5. Like the G-PS5HS04 that the company already sells, the PS5HS01-Cov is compatible with M.2 SSDs and makes direct contact via small thermal pads. For some reason, the PS5HS01-Cov has a different design than the G-PS5HS04, although Graugear claims that both offer the same cooling capacity as each other.

While the G-PS5HS04 is one aluminium shroud, the PS5HS01-Cov has a smaller aluminium element and a 7 mm-long copper heat pipe. It appears that Graugear has made the heat pipe just long enough to allow it to be cooled by the PlayStation 5's fan housing too, unlike the G-PS5HS04. In comparison, the G-PS5HS04 sits next to the fan housing without making direct contact. Presumably, Graugear's new solution delivers comparable cooling while using fewer materials than G-PS5HS04.

According to the company, the PS5HS01-Cov can reduce SSD temperatures between 15°C and 25°C with a view to improving SSD durability and performance. Currently, Graugear is selling the PS5HS01-Cov for €37.69, which is roughly €10 more expensive than the G-PS5HS04. Graugear has not announced pricing in North America yet, but we imagine that the accessory will eventually be available there. For reference, the G-PS5HS04 retails for US$29.95 in the US.
