Deal | First direct PlayStation 5 Disc Edition price discount is now live as Sony racks record sales

Sony sold a record number of PlayStation consoles in the US last month as its promise that the PS5 supply chain problems have been resolved has started to materialize. There is now PlayStation 5 stock on all major retailers indeed, both of the PS5 Digital and Disc editions. So much so, that Amazon appears to have started a PlayStation 5 price war, and for the Disc Edition version at that.

The first direct PlayStation 5 price cut comes in the form of an Amazon bundle deal for the God of War Ragnarök PS5 pack (US$509). Instead of the US$559 MSRP, the PS5 Disc Edition price is now discounted by $50 for the whole bundle, which includes:

• PlayStation 5 console
• DualSense Wireless Controller
• Base
• HDMI Cable
• AC power cord
• USB cable
• Full God of War Ragnarok game voucher

Amazon's God of War Ragnarök game version starts from $69, while the console itself is $499, so PlayStation 5 fans would basically be getting the game for $10 or so.

Gone are the days when scalpers were selling PlayStation 5 consoles for double and triple their retail price, it seems, and what is left now is to witness PS5 price cuts for the standalone Digital and Disc models during major sales events.

Sony is upgrading the latest generation of its PlayStation gaming console with a number of new features like 1440p VRR support, Discord integration, or Wireless Device Update for the DualSense controller, too. There are rumors for a PlayStation Pro edition that may be released in 2024 as well, but until then anyone who wants to buy a PS5 console can now do so without wait or even at a discount.
