The Samsung SmartThings app is a kind of hub for Bluetooth-connected peripherals (particularly own-brand ones) that relate to Galaxy-series smartphones. It can call up images that correspond to the accessories in question when they are detected. Accordingly, it can be a source of leaks about new wearables in response to a bit of digging.
This is exactly what XDA did recently. Their contributors found references to what may be 3 new audio devices: the AKG N400, the AKG Y400 and the AKG Y600. Based on their schematics, the first of these is a new pair of true-wireless earphones. They look quite like the Samsung Galaxy Buds, except for the AKG logo on their outer faces.
By contrast, the putative AKGs Y400 and Y600 are on-ear and over-ear headphones respectively. It is not completely clear from their own diagrams, but it seems as though they too might be wireless. As they are depicted headband-on, there is no branding visible in these cases; however, their model numbers suggest that they may also be tuned by Samsung's audio partner.
Therefore, there may be evidence that a new variation on the Galaxy Buds, as well as new headphones, are in the works at Samsung. Should this leak prove accurate, it is possible that they may be launched at the next Unpacked event alongside the hotly-anticipated Galaxy Note 10 series.
