The Xiaomi Redmi Computer Speaker is now available to pre-order in China. The new product is the first desktop speaker from the brand, designed for use when working or gaming. The two-channel device contains four elements, two full-range speakers and dual passive radiators, with sound projected upwards at a 53° angle.
The Redmi Computer Speaker has received the CGEC Golden Ear Certification, though this is not a globally recognised audio standard. You can choose from various settings tailored to scenarios like playing music, watching movies or gaming, thanks to a digital signal processor (DSP). 16 RGB lamp beads are fitted to the speaker's base, producing ambient lighting. DSP technology also allows the speaker to sync the lighting effects with the audio. Other features include an integrated microphone for video calls, a volume adjustment knob and various button controls.
The Redmi speaker supports Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, or you can physically connect devices via USB-A, USB-C and AUX IN ports. The gadget is 435 mm (~17.1-in) long and 67 mm (~2.6-in) tall. You can now pre-order the Xiaomi Redmi Computer Speaker in China, locking in the discounted price of 199 yuan (~$28) with a 30 yuan (~$4) deposit. After this pre-sale period, the gadget will retail for 239 yuan (~$33). Whether or when the product could launch in other markets remains to be seen.
