Radxa is now selling the Zero 3W, a single-board computer (SBC) that it presented at the end of October. As CNX Software notes, Radxa has slightly changed the Zero 3W since its launch just over a month ago. The SBC remains based around the Rockchip RK3566 though, which integrates the following components:
- CPU - 4x ARM Cortex-A55 cores downclocked by 200 MHz to 1.6 GHz
- GPU - ARM Mali G52-2EE
- NPU - 0.8 TOPS AI accelerator
- VPU - H.264/H.265/VP9 video decoding at 4K/60 FPS, H.264/H.265 video encoding at 1080p
However, Radxa no longer includes a Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 4-capable modem. Instead, the company has upgraded the Zero 3W to the Radxa Wireless Module D8 for Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, also known as 802.11 ax. Thus, the SBC should offer superior transfer speeds over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi than was possible previously.
Surprisingly, Radxa has not increased the cost of the Zero 3W either. As a result, the SBC is orderable for £13 from Arace Tech with 1 GB of RAM but no eMMC flash storage or a GPIO header. Alternatively, the board starts at US$15 on ALLNET China with the same specifications. Currently, only Arace Tech has stock of the Radxa Zero 3W though, which is also available with 8 GB of RAM, 64 GB of eMMC flash storage and a GPIO header for £54.
