Known for its embedded and industrial electronics, EDATEC has announced a new mini PC, the EDATEC ED-IPC3020. It’s powered by the Raspberry Pi 5 and features an industrial, fanless design. The system is available on AliExpress with a starting price of $165.

EDATEC ED-IPC3020 has made its debut and is currently available for purchase. As the company explains, it’s a mini PC that comes featuring Raspberry Pi 5 with a rugged, fanless chassis. Aside from being tough, the design of the housing is said to offer sufficient cooling to keep the Pi 5’s quad-core processor cool under heavy loads.

As the ED-IPC3020 is mainly designed for industrial purposes, the mini PC comes with RS-232 and RS-485 serial ports. Besides, EDATEC offers the system in two different configs. One comes with 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, while the other features 8 GB of RAM.

Both variants support M.2 SSD, making it easier to equip the system with high-speed storage (Samsung 990 PRO series 2 TB curr. $158.95 on Amazon). In addition, the EDATEC ED-IPC3020 has a 3.5 mm audio and microphone jack, something that Raspberry Pi 5 doesn’t feature out of the box. There’s RTC with CR1220 battery and SuperCap support too.

When it comes to the ports, the EDATEC ED-IPC3020 mini PC has two USB 2.0 Type-A, two USB 2.0 Type-A, two micro HDMI, one microSD card, and one USB Type-C that’s mainly for powering the system. It also offers MIPI-DSI and MIPI-CSI connectors under the hood, which you can use to connect external cameras and displays.

Regarding pricing, the variant with 4 GB of RAM is $165 on AliExpress, and the model with 8 GB of RAM is priced at $207. While it’s possible to build a similar system with a Raspberry Pi 5, the EDATEC ED-IPC3020 saves you from the trouble of finding the perfect chassis and additional adapters to get a full-fledged mini PC.
