Radxa has launched yet another single-board computer (SBC), a few days after it debuted the ROCK 3B and ROCK 5B Blue Edition. Now, the ROCK S0 has arrived in their place with a 65 x 30 mm board based around the Rockchip RK3308BS. Thus, the ROCK S0 offers 64-bit support through its four ARM Cortex-A35 CPU cores that can operate at up to 1.3 GHz when needed.
Additionally, Radxa has included DDR3 RAM, optional eMMC flash storage and a MicroSD card reader that serves as a secondary storage solution. As the image below shows, the ROCK S0 features a 4-pin Ethernet connection, a modem that provides Bluetooth 5 and Wi-Fi 4 connectivity, plus associated onboard and external antennas. Moreover, the ROCK S0 has a 40-pin GPIO header, again optional. USB 2.0 ports can be found too, albeit with 4-pin connectors for OTG and Host connections.
According to Radxa, the ROCK S0 supports Debian and Ubuntu Linux distributions; please see the company's website for more details. At the time of writing, only Arace Tech has stock of the ROCK S0, which it sells for £13 with 512 MB RAM, 8 GB of eMMC flash storage and a GPIO header. However, ALLNET China has outlined that the same RAM configuration will be available without eMMC storage or a GPIO header for US$11.90. Unfortunately, pricing for 256 MB models remains unconfirmed at this stage.
