Radxa Rock 3B debuts with affordable pricing
Radxa Rock 3B has officially launched as an affordable yet very capable single-board computer. It features the “PI-CO ITX” form factor, making the board measure 100 x 75 mm. This dimension means that the SBC won’t fit in the standard housings made for the Raspberry Pi.
While the Rock 3B is a bit larger than the standard Raspberry Pi, it offers enough expansion options to justify the size. It comes with the following:
- M.2 E-Key PCIe 2.0
- M.2 M-Key PCIe 3.0
- M.2 B-Key
- MicroSD card slot
- HDMI 2.0
- 2 x USB 3.0
- 2 x Gigabit Ethernet
- 40-pin GPIO header
- 3.5 mm audio jack
- eDP connector
- MIPI CSI camera connector
- 2 x MIPI DSI ports
- IR receiver
- Touch Panel connector
- RTC with a header for battery
- USB Type-C
As for key specs, the Radxa Rock 3B SBC packs the Rockchip RK3568 chipset. It’s a quad-core 64-bit CPU that runs at 2.0 GHz. There’s a Mali G52 GPU that boasts OpenGL 3.2, Vulkan 1.1, and OpenCL 2.0 support. Also, the board has a VPU and an AI NPU.
But what really makes the Rock 3B single-board computer stand out is the competitive pricing. The variant with 2 GB of LPDDR4 RAM is only US$45, while the highest-end model with 8 GB of RAM is US$75. There’s also a 4 GB option available at US$55. To compare, the Radxa Rock 3A with 2 GB of RAM is currently US$75 on Amazon. You can learn more about the Rock 3 Model B from the Radxa wiki.
