The Chinese manufacturer Morefine has introduced a new and compact computer. The S800 measures a mere 5.9 x 5.8 x 2.2 inches and boasts a rather unconventional chassis. For instance, the top of the case features an eye-catching design and logo, which gives the system somewhat of a cyberpunk vibe.
All variants of the S800 are equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, and while it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card, an external one can be used. Specifically, an eGPU can be connected via USB 4, but it should be noted that this approach limits graphics performance compared to the more potent OCuLink connection.
Additionally, the mini PC has two memory slots for up to 96GB of DDR5 RAM with 5,600 MHz. Rather unusually, the device can accommodate two M.2 2280 SSDs, both of which are connected via four PCIe 4.0 lanes. Additionally, a 2.5-inch SSD with a thickness of up to 0.27 inches can be installed, which allows for an easy mass storage upgrade.
Alternatively, external storage solutions can be connected via USB 3.0, as the mini PC sports a total of two USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 ports. Moreover, one of the two available Ethernet ports supports data rates of 2.5Gbit/s, while HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 can be used for video output. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 are supported as well.
The Morefine S800 is now available for pre-order directly from the manufacturer, with prices starting at $659. Customers can order the mini PC in a barebone configuration, meaning the system ships without RAM or an SSD. Shipping is expected to start in mid-February.
