New Kirin 9050 Pro flagship chipset makes Geekbench 7 debut aboard Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max

Huawei launched the Mate 90 series earlier today in China as its premium smartphones for the year. The Mate 90 Pro Max and Mate 90 RS Edition are both powered by the company's new in-house chipset, the Kirin 9050 Pro. That chipset has now been tested on Geekbench aboard the Mate 90 Pro Max.
As spotted, the Kirin 9050 Pro earned a single-core score of 1,117 and a multi-core score of 5,076 on Geekbench 7. This score is currently unverified, however, and it's important to note that it was supposedly tested while running through the DroiTong translation container.
The numbers themselves indicate CPU performance somewhere between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, with the latter being five years old at this point. Those scores are mirrored on verified Geekbench 6 listings as well. That, unfortunately, makes the Kirin 9050 Pro the least powerful flagship smartphone chipset this year, falling behind Google's Tensor G6 on the Pixel 11 series, although most of that is down to the severe restrictions Huawei faces.
