The Gboost V8 2023 e-bike conversion kit is now on sale. The motor is available with up to 800W power for a top speed of 32 kph (~20 mph). Multiple power packs are on offer, providing up to 90 km (~56 miles) of assistance range, and a new smart controller brings Bluetooth smartphone connectivity to your bicycle.

Gboost has released an updated version of its e-bike conversion kit. The kit includes a V8 motor weighing around 950g (~2.09 lbs). The motor can run quietly, with the company claiming it is the quietest on the market. The French brand suggests installing the kit on your regular bike takes 10 minutes, with a single screw attaching the motor to the frame. Plus, the device has an integrated pedal assistance sensor, making installation easier.

The updated Gboost's design improves bike compatibility, suiting narrow mounting spaces, such as on a racing bike, or frames for larger tires. The company notes that you can contact them to create special mounting adapters. The Gboost V8 kit is available in Gold, with a 250W motor delivering a peak power of 500W and a top speed of 25 kph (~16 mph). The new, more expensive Platinum pack increases the engine's power to 800W and the maximum speed to 32 kph (~20 mph). The latest smart controller also brings Bluetooth LTE, allowing you to connect your smartphone to the Gboost controller, with iOS and Android apps available. You can choose from five assistance levels and control other settings through the app.

Three power packs are on offer, starting with the 251Wh capacity smart battery, delivering 50 km (~31 miles) range with a three-hour charging time, weighing 1.6 kg (~3.5 lbs). The Performance battery is heavier at 2.3 kg (~5.1 lbs), with a 365Wh capacity and 75 km (~47 miles) range. The top-end Extra Performance is a 441Wh battery with a 90 km (~56 miles) range and a four-hour charging time; this power pack weighs the same as the Performance model. The Gboost e-bike conversion kit currently starts at €998 (~US$1,071), with the top specification costing €1,388 (~US$1,490). The company ships internationally, including to the US and Canada.
