The OXFO OX1 e-bike is now crowdfunding on Indiegogo. Unveiled last year, the bicycle is powered by a 250W 45Nm rear-mounted motor with three assistance modes. The OX1 has a top speed of 25 kph (~16 mph), with the OX1 MAX US edition limited to 35 kph (~22 mph). The US model also includes a thumb throttle. A torque sensor makes the motor assistance feel smoother, and a rear shock absorber makes for a more comfortable ride.
Each bicycle has a removable battery stored internally. The OX1 has a 100 km (~62 miles) range from a 6.4Ah power pack, and the OX1 Max has a 7Ah battery delivering up to 135 km (~84 miles) of range. A full recharge of the power packs takes three to four hours. Other features include a dual braking system with electric and disc brakes, 16-inch Kenda tires, and an LED headlight.
The magnesium alloy unibody frame is foldable to make it easier to carry or store, collapsing to 508 x 508 x 550 mm (~20 x 20 x 21.7-in) in around 10 seconds. The bike weighs 16.5 kg (~36 lbs); the company claims its magnesium alloy frame is about 33% lighter than an aluminum equivalent. An early bird pledge on the Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for the OXFO OX1 and OX1 MAX e-bikes cost US$1,359 and US$1,607, respectively. After the campaign, the e-bikes will retail for US$2,240 and US$2,740. The company is shipping to many regions, including the US, Canada, the UK and the EU.
