New Casio G-Shock Luxe Black model rumored with Tough Solar and Bluetooth

A third Luxe Black G-Shock may be on the way, and it could be the first one we never have to change a battery in.

Great G-Shock World reported on September 20 that Casio is preparing an additional model for the line. Several rumors were pointing to a launch before the end of the year. The blog expects it to carry over the design of the two watches already out. It also says the base is likely to be the GBM-2100 rather than the GM-2100, though no specifications have been confirmed yet.

The GM-2100LXB runs module 5611 off a coin cell, with a battery life of about three years. The GBM-2100 instead uses Tough Solar charging and a Bluetooth link to the Casio Watches app. It handles automatic time correction, a time and place log and a phone finder. Both sit in a resin case behind a stainless steel bezel, so the change would be internal rather than a redesign.

Luxe Black reached Japan on June 19. It's not just another colorway. Casio has reworked the dial itself. It gets a matte black, fine-textured surface that absorbs light, new slim hands and redesigned vapor-deposited indices. The metal-bezel pair, the GM-2100LXB-1AJF with silver accents and the GM-2100LXB-1A9JF with gold, sells for 32,450 yen apiece in Japan and $260 in the States. A resin-bezel GA-2100LXB pair is below that at 20,900 yen and $145.

Pricing for the rumored model is an open question. Current GBM-2100A colorways list at 37,400 yen in Japan, roughly 5,000 yen above the GM-2100LXB, and the solar-Bluetooth hardware usually has that gap.

Casio has not announced anything as of writing.
