GrilTi: Portable titanium camp grill that can be set up in 30 seconds

Septem Studio, a British firm known for titanium sporks and multitools, has moved into grilling with GrilTi, a camp grill currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter. Its core idea is modularity: each module is a self-contained grill with its own cooking surface and legs, allowing additional sections to be connected without tools. A single 1.5-kg (3.3-lb) module is intended for two to four people, while adding another doubles the cooking area.

When folded, the grill measures 314 x 345 x 8 mm (12.4 x 13.3 x 0.3 in); assembled, it measures 265 x 314 x 288 mm (10.4 x 12.4 x 11.3 in). Folding the grill allows for easy transport, which can reportedly be assembled in around 30 seconds using interlocking slots rather than bolts. Its titanium cooking structure is paired with lightweight aluminum legs, all of which are said to be rust-proof.

Each cooking surface combines a conventional grill section with a solid titanium plate for tasks such as frying and searing. A separate warming tray promises to keep cooked food warm without burning it. However, heat control remains relatively limited, with removable side panels used to alter airflow. The grill can burn charcoal, briquettes, wood chunks or firewood. The lower charcoal tray is removable to simplify ash disposal, while removing the cooking panel allows the unit to double as a small campfire. Early-bird pricing on Kickstarter starts at £139 (about US$188) for one set, against a retail price of £225 (about $305). Shipping is scheduled for mid-December, provided the campaign succeeds. As always, crowdfunding campaigns come with certain risks, including the possibility that the product may not work as promised. Given that Septem Studio already has 18 successfully backed Kickstarter campaigns, this is unlikely.
