Xiaomi’s compact Mijia Air Purifier 6C offers higher airflow and expanded six-stage filtration at a lower price than several existing models. However, louder operation, no humidification, limited smart-home compatibility and unverified performance claims make it a mixed upgrade, with global availability still uncertain.

Xiaomi has just unveiled the Mijia Air Purifier 6C, a compact unit aimed at bedrooms and small apartments up to 68 m². It reportedly delivers a clean air delivery rate (CADR) of 603 m³/h, exceeding the 422 m³/h and 443 m³/h CADR of the Mijia Smart Air Purifier Pro and Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6, respectively. It occupies 0.063 m², just larger than an A4 sheet of paper, with a fresh air volume of 9,500 L/min.

The 6C expands filtration from the Smart Air Purifier 6’s five-stage system to six stages, combining a pre-filter, antibacterial layer, formaldehyde filter, filter, carbon layer and UV sterilization. Xiaomi rates formaldehyde CADR at 381 m³/h and claims 99% removal within two hours. As for allergies, the 6C is said to filter 98% of cedar pollen and dust mites, 99% of cat dander, 98% of dog dander and 99.99% of PM2.5. Its dual antibacterial coating and UV disinfection system are claimed to eliminate more than 99.9% of eight common bacteria and viruses within an hour, including 99.99% of H1N1. A circular LCD is said to display real-time formaldehyde, PM2.5, temperature and humidity readings.

As always, manufacturer claims should be viewed with skepticism. Prospective buyers should always wait for independent verification of such claims before purchasing.

Overall, however, the 6C looks like a mixed upgrade. While it exceeds the both the aforementioned models in terms of CADR, despite being the smaller, cheaper model, it drops the Alexa and Google Home compatibility of the Purifier 6 in favor of Xiaomi's own ecosystem (Mi Home). Compared to the pricier Mijia Smart Air Purifier Pro, which adds humidification and a quieter 14.6 dBA sleep mode, the 6C's 30.4 dB(A) noise level is noticeably louder and it lacks humidification entirely (even if it can measure humidity).

Xiaomi is currently offering the 6C for pre-order in China at 1099 yuan (approx. $164). Whether the model will get an international release is uncertain; the last model to have received a global launch was the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6.
