Neurable One EEG ANC headphones: Mind-reading headphones monitor brain state

Neurable has released the Neurable One, a wireless over-ear headphone with built-in electroencephalogram (EEG) to monitor the wearer's mind. The headphones can pair to up to two devices simultaneously, with a rated runtime of up to 22 hours of audio and 12 hours of EEG use.
The Neurable One appears like any normal wireless headphone, with the exception of the striped ear pads. These stripes are the electrical sensors that enable 12-channel EEG measurements with 24-bit signals. Unlike conventional EEGs, these sensors do not require the use of a water-based gel to ensure the electrical signal from the brain is properly read by each sensor.

The headphones currently measure Calmness, Cognitive Load, Cognitive Speed, EEG frequency bands, Focus, and Wakefulness. Under US regulations, the Neurable One is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or monitor any health condition. While EEGs are normally used in hospitals to help diagnose issues such as seizures, home users can use them to potentially better monitor their mental states.
The recorded data is processed in the Neurable cloud, with data stored for up to 18 months, which can be deleted at any time upon request. Users can also extract the raw data from the recorded EEG frequency bands as CSV files for further analysis and to create hobbyist AI projects, such as remotely controlling robotic arms with their minds.
The wireless headphones can be used as regular noise-cancelling headphones on their own without the app, which provides convenient access to recorded EEG data.
Readers can preorder the Neurable One for $499 from the company's website. Shipments go out in batches, with a lead time of four to eight weeks.
