After its October 2023 reveal, Qualcomm showed off the Snapdragon X Elite's AI chops by pitting it against the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H. The CPU is slated to power laptops from a plethora of OEMs in 2024. A Lenovo laptop called Lenovo 83ED sporting the chip has now shown up on Geekbench.
The Snapdragon X Elite scores 1,628 points in Geekbench 6.2's single-core test and 11,392 points in multi-core. This is remarkably lower than Qualcomm's in-house benchmark scores (2,777/14,056 at 23 Watts, 2,966/15,239 at 80 Watts). It isn't clear what wattage this chip is operating at, but the listing confirms an 8+4 CPU core configuration.
One can attribute its poor showing to wonky clocks as shown in the attached image. Furthermore, it is a pre-production sample that will require some fine-tuning before it hits shelves. Nevertheless, Qualcomm would do well to iron out issues with its Nuvia CPU cores, otherwise it could also cause problems for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 slated to launch in October.
While the Snapdragon X Elite supports dGPUs, this particular sample comes bundled with an unnamed Adreno GPU, as confirmed by a Geekbench OpenCL listing. It scores a paltry 10 points in the test for the same reasons mentioned above. Lastly, the Lenovo 83ED in question packs 32 GB of RAM and runs an Insider Preview of Windows 11 Pro.
