Reviews for the Motorola Moto G100

85.4% Motorola Moto G100 smartphone review: Fast 5G mobile phone as PC replacement | Notebookcheck
A high-quality mid-range phone with a fast processor, fast storage, and a large battery. This is how you could describe the Moto G100, but that would be leaving out an important aspect: Thanks to the Ready For docking software, the smartphone can also be used as a replacement for a desktop PC.

Diving headfirst into the deep end, it’s quite clear that the Moto G100 is a bit out of its depth. The most expensive Moto G yet – by quite some distance – there’s not much reason to pick up the Moto G100 instead of its rivals, which is especially frustrating since they also cost a bit less than what Motorola is charging too. It’s by far the best Moto G I’ve ever reviewed, but it’s just not the best in value terms. The £130 Moto G10 remains my top affordable pick, but if your buying budget stretches further into the mid-range, then the Galaxy A52 5G, Pixel 4a 5G and iPhone SE (2020) all still earn my recommendation.

You can mainly stick to the screen that does not use AMOLED technology. Motorola has focused on performance, optimization, battery and soft more than the display. The cameras won't impress - but in this area, Motorola has never really stood out. However, it's hard to forgive the lack of stereo speakers and inductive charging. Moreover, we cannot ignore the fact that there is even a POCO F3 on the market, which offers an AMOLED screen, the same processor, and even an identical memory variant - and it is cheaper. If you care about a smartphone with which you can work like a computer, then it is worth looking at Samsung smartphones from the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series that support Samsung DeX - here I would aim at the Galaxy S20 FE model.

70% Motorola Moto g100 review: Premium power and display on a budget
Source: Tom's Guide English
The Moto g100 is a real workhorse of a phone, covering all your needs as practically as possible. But unlike other members of the Moto G series, it’s also got some premium features that let the g100 excel in a few key areas. The Moto g100 provides get one of the highest performance to price ratios in all the smartphone market thanks to a generously mighty chipset; you get a lot of display space to make the most of that power, too. At best, the Moto g100’s cameras are serviceable, though the ultrawide selfie camera is a standout. The software, assuming you’re using it on the phone itself, is nice and straightforward to use, and even if it can’t replace your laptop, ReadyFor still has a place as a big-screen gaming, movie watching or video conferencing mode.

With the Moto g100, Motorola successfully delivers a powerful set of features in a mid-range package. Any flaws in the premium-like experience are made up for by more unique features like the ReadyFor mode or the secondary ultrawide selfie camera.

Breaks new ground for the Moto G line-up, but only to limited effect. Unless you have specific plans for the productivity-focused accessory bundle, there are plenty of mid-range rivals that are more well-rounded.

The Moto G100 offers great performance, a decent display and long battery life for less than £450, with the added bonus of Motorola's Ready For tech that turns the phone into an Android-powered desktop. If you can overlook hit-and-miss camera performance, it's a great mid-range smartphone.

Sold on its own, the Moto G100 would be a good-value low-cost phone, thanks to a fast processor, pretty decent cameras for its price and a handy fingerprint scanner, though there are some issues like its big size and slow charging speeds. The real issue, though, is that you have to buy it with a dock for the Ready For multitasking software, which bumps up the price and adds functions not everyone will care about.

The Motorola Moto G100 is proof that you can not always get in both bag and sack. A mobile for less than 4,000 kroner with as high a performance as the Moto G100 can perform – as mentioned largely on a par with much more expensive smartphones such as OnePlus 8T and Samsung Galaxy S20 FE – is a find for the price, but you have to do without the super sharp and high-resolution screen and the excellent sound that otherwise characterizes the premium class. But having said that, it’s hard to think of another smartphone that gives you so much for so little money as the Motorola Moto G100. The camera is excellent and adequate for the vast majority of users, and the impressive battery life we have hardly seen before since the 1990s. That was when we had Nokia mobiles in our pockets that could hold power for a week. So bad that the Moto G100 does not have wireless charging.

You'll struggle to find a more competent phone than the Moto g10 at this price. However, as user-friendly and refined as the design is, it's hard to ignore the low-powered components when you know there are far better options out there if you’re able to spend a little more.

The Motorola G100 launched in Europe with a price tag of €499. There’s no information on whether the phone will arrive in the States and what would be the price but at 499 euros I don’t expect anything below the $500 mark ($600 sounds more realistic). That’s if Motorola decides to sell the phone in the US, of course.

However, the Moto G100 does not disappoint when it comes to the fundamentals - it offers a solid battery life, a top-tier performance, and display and camera image quality that are very much okay. But the G100's real strength lies in the combination of features that you can't find together in a single phone. Ring lights for close-ups (and actually good close-ups) are only slightly more common than unicorns, dual selfie cameras are nowhere as popular as we'd prefer, and it's not easy to get the equivalent of the Ready For functionality on all Androids. If these sound like they're up your alley, do give the Moto G100 a try.

Moto G100 review: A new dawn for the G series
Source: Pocket Lint English
The Moto G100 is a shake-up for the G series, bringing performance levels not before seen in this line-up. While that might be a little perplexing on the face of it - especially as it's not a G series device in China, it's the Edge S, muddying the naming convention further - it's a rather refreshing take in a section of the market where there's not a tonne of great options.

You can’t argue with the value Motorola offers: the phone packs power and accessories at a reasonable price. Some risks have paid off, with the dock being a useful addition, albeit a clunky one. That said, with its hit and miss camera and an immature, chunky design it has fallen a bit flat.

Hands on: Moto G100 review
Source: Techradar English
The Moto G100 is a curious phone because you can’t buy it alone - you have to purchase it at a (relatively) high price along with a dock, so you can use it alongside your computer or TV. Sure, this Ready For mode is pretty fun to play around with, and the phone is big and powerful besides, but it’s hard to recommend for people who want a good low-cost smartphone.

Qualcomm Adreno 650: Graphics chip for smartphones and tablets that is integrated within the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. Qualcomm claims that it is 25% faster than the Adreno 640 in the Snapdragon 855 SoC and offers 50% more compute units (ALUs). For Android it should be one of the fastest graphics cards in 2020.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.

SD 870: High-end SoC for smartphones that was introduced in mid 2020 and manufactured in 7 nm at TSMC (improved N7P). Integrates one Prime Core based on a ARM Cortex-A77 architecture clocked at up to 3.2 GHz. Three more performance cores are also based on the A77 but clock up to 2.42 GHz. Furthermore, four energy saving cores are integrated that are based on the ARM Cortex-A55 architecture and clock at up to 1.8 GHz.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

6.70":

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.

Motorola: Founded in 1928, the US-based company mainly focuses on communication technology such as smartphones. The original company Motorola Inc was split up in 2011. Motorola Mobility got the smartphone division and was taken over by Google in 2012 and Lenovo in 2014.

The company is known for its cell phones and other electronic devices such as smartwatches, tablets and accessories. Motorola was one of the first companies to produce cell phones, and in recent years has also innovated in the areas of 5G technology and modular smartphones (Moto Mods). Motorola is also active in public safety and professional communications, providing solutions for government agencies, businesses and other organizations. The company has operations in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America and employs more than 10,000 people worldwide.

77.77%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
