As a cheaper gaming model, the Xiaomi Black Shark 5 comes with a fast but not a top processor. However, the 144 Hz screen of the Pro model remains. Is the Black Shark 5 too slow, or still a bargain for gamers?

I enjoyed my time using this phone and I think this is a fantastic phone. Even the specs isn’t exactly the newest in today’s standards – it still manages to perform magnificently in the latest games that we played. We still have our review of the Black Shark 5 Pro coming soon. That will be an interesting one since I’ll mostly be talking about why you should and should not buy the Black Shark 5 Pro.

I think the Black Shark 5 series easily ranks high among the best gaming phones, especially the 5 Pro. It has a lot of power, many useful features, and great battery life. It’s not a cheap device, but you get a lot for your money. And if you are more focused on getting the best gaming experience, then Black Shark 5 Pro should be at the top of your list.

The Xiaomi Black Shark 5 was released in April 2022, and the expected price of the phone is roughly $550 (Rs 42,000 in India) approx. As far as the primary specs are concerned, you are getting a 6.67-inches AMOLED panel with an impressive 144 Hz refresh rate and 1300 nits peak brightness. Under the hood, the phone is powered by a 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G chipset that provides Adreno 650 GPU support. Also, you are getting the software layering of the latest Android 12 OS based on Joy UI 13 user interface skin. In terms of the storage department, you will receive 8GB to 12GB RAM support, while you can choose from 128GB/256GB internal storage. For the next level of photography, there is a triple rear camera with a 64MP main lens and a 16MP selfie camera. You can record 4K videos@60fps from the main lens. Various connectivity options on the Xiaomi Black Shark 5 include WiFi, Bluetooth, and 5G connectivity. Qualcomm Adreno 650: Graphics chip for smartphones and tablets that is integrated within the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. Qualcomm claims that it is 25% faster than the Adreno 640 in the Snapdragon 855 SoC and offers 50% more compute units (ALUs). For Android it should be one of the fastest graphics cards in 2020.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
