Motorola has kicked off its 2025 lineup with the launch of the Moto G Power (2025). The new mid-range smartphone has a bigger display, better ingress protection, but a downgraded processor when compared to its predecessor, the Moto G Power 5G (2024).
Motorola has given the phone a slight makeover. It has also dropped 5G
from its name. The Moto G Power (2025) has a 6.8-inch screen which is 120Hz IPS LCD panel with a 19:9 aspect ratio, a 2388 x 1080 resolution, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The display is a tad larger than the 6.7-inch screen of the 2024 model.
Motorola has equipped the Moto G Power (2025) with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. However, it has replaced the Dimensity 7020 processor with the Dimensity 6300, a downgrade considering the former has 2x Cortex-A78 clocked at 2.2GHz and 6x Cortex-A55 at 2.0GHz while the latter has 2x Arm Cortex-A76 at 2.4GHz and 6x Arm Cortex-A55 at 2.0GHz.
For cameras, the Moto G Power (2025) has a 16MP front-facing camera, a 50MP primary rear camera with OIS, and an 8MP ultrawide angle camera that can also take macro photos. There's a fingerprint scanner, Face Unlock, and ThinkShield protection. It also has an audio jack, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, and dual SIM support (nano+eSIM).
Motorola has improved the durability of the new Moto G Power. In addition to an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, it also has an IP69 rating and MIL-STD 810H certification. The phone is available in two colors, both with a vegan leather finish.
The Moto G Power (2025) ships with Android 15 but Motorola didn't say how many OS upgrades and years of security updates it will receive. Like its predecessor, it has a 5,000mAh battery which supports 30W fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging. It also comes with a charger in the box in select markets.
Motorola has put a price tag of $299.99 on the Moto G Power (2025). It will be available to buy unlocked starting on February 6 on Motorola's website, Amazon, and BestBuy. It will also be available through carriers in the coming months. Those in Canada will have to wait until May 2 to get their hands on the phone.
The Moto G Power 2024 is still available to buy on Amazon for $299.99, the same price it launched last year. It is also available at the same price on Motorola's website but you get a free Moto Buds+ earbuds and a free Moto Tag.
