Motorola has unveiled its latest affordable smartphone, the Moto G05, in India. A direct successor to the budget-friendly Moto G04 (currently at $121 on Amazon) comes with significant improvements. A MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme chipset sits at the heart of the Moto G05, which Motorola paired with 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage, with room for storage expansion up to 1 TB via microSD card.
The Moto G05 has a 50 MP primary camera on the back, complemented by an ambient light sensor. This is a significant upgrade from the Moto G04’s 16 MP primary camera. On the front, it features an 8 MP shooter for selfies and video chats. Further, the handset boasts a 6.67-inch LCD display that outputs at 1612 x 720 pixels with a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a peak brightness of 1000 nits.
Motorola packs a 5,200 mAh battery (up from 5,000 mAh) into the Moto G05 that supports 18 W wired charging. However, Motorola offers only a 10 W charger in the box, which means you have to purchase the fast charger separately. It does have an IP52 water and dust resistance rating. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, up to 12 GB RAM expansion support, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and Hi-Res audio support.
Available in Plum Red and Forest Green color options, the Moto G05 is priced at INR 6,999 (~$82/€78) for a single 4 GB + 64 GB model. The smartphone will be available via Motorola’s official website, Flipkart, and other authorized retail stores starting January 13.
