Reviews for the Motorola Edge
A display that flows seamlessly around the edges is the Edge's most striking and unique design element. It also features a modern triple-camera array, stereo speakers, and support for 5G. We take a closer look at the edgeless smartphone.

Motorola made just the right changes to give the Edge the cost advantage it needs compared to its more performant stablemate, but it's in dire need of a price cut.

Other than the camera, the Moto Edge is a fantastic device and will make most people just as happy as a flagship would. However, the camera is a bit on the weak side. Not bad by any means, and still very capable, but not nearly as good as a Pixel.

The Motorola Edge is an affordable 5G phone that lasts long on a charge. However, there are more powerful devices for the same price that take better pictures too, making the Motorola Edge a solid choice rather than a standout.

An unlocked Motorola sub-flagship for $699? Yeah, sure. The incredible value for the Motorola Edge makes it hard to pass up, particularly if the price tags of some of today’s devices make you ill. Though I wish the cameras were slightly better, everything else about the Motorola Edge shines in a way that should appeal to the majority of consumers. While the Motorola Edge doesn’t quite have the specs of the Edge Plus, in this case the price more than makes up the difference. Specs aren’t everything, and the Moto Edge is the proof.

Overall, the Motorola Edge isn’t a bad pick if you’re after a sleek device with excellent battery life, great camera quality, and 5G functionality without spending a ton of cash. If Motorola is able to iron out issues with the gesture controls and touch rejection on the edge display, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

If you want an eye-catching phone with a curved screen like few others, at a reasonable price point, and which lasts for an epic amount of time, then the Motorola Edge will more than give the competition a run for their money.

The Motorola Moto Edge is a solid phone for people who want 5G for less than $1,000. It offers better 5G support than the OnePlus 8 for the same price, though the OnePlus 8 has a faster processor, so you need to decide which is more important to you. If you’re an AT&T customer, meanwhile, the LG Velvet offers many of the same features of the Moto Edge, as well as official water protection for $100 less. Ultimately, there’s still plenty of room in this price range for a 5G to come in and get things just right, but we're happy to see a solid new option in the form of the Moto Edge.

As a "value flagship," the Motorola Edge strives to deliver a flagship-like experience for considerably less money than its top-of-the-line Edge+ counterpart. For the most part, it succeeds with flying colors. The Motorola Edge has a gorgeous display, super-premium hardware, and performance and battery life that are every bit as good as much more expensive alternatives. Minus some disappointing camera performance and mixed feelings around its curved screen, the Motorola Edge is a stellar phone that's definitely worth your attention.

The Motorola Edge is an excellent device, and it's something that I'd be happy to keep in my pocket on the regular, if it had wireless charging. I can forgive that modest lack of performance by using a Snapdragon 765 instead of a Snapdragon 765G, but not having wireless charging is just something that I wouldn't put up with in a $699.99 phone.

Motorola makes a lot of phones at a lot of different prices, to the point where the lineups start to blur together. As a $700 phone, the Edge is certainly a better deal than its full-priced sibling, offering nearly comparable features and performance at a significantly reduced price. The current $499 price makes it an even better deal — one that starts to demand to be taken seriously as one of the better midrange phones around.

The Motorola Edge feels like a mid-range phone imitating a premium one, and it shows, with a few rough edges like a fingerprint sensor which isn’t the easiest to use, and cameras that take pictures which aren’t the best we’ve seen. However this is still far from your average mid-range phone, and it feels good in the hand and looks great.

The Motorola Edge is a flagship-grade looking phone. Its screen and design are fantastic at its £549 asking price, as are the speakers that make it a dream video streamer. If that’s what you value, then you won’t get more design or screen for less.

Though it looks the same as the premium Edge Plus, the Motorola Edge lacks the power of its bigger sibling - and many similarly-priced rivals too. But what you won't get at such a cheap price is the stunning 6.7in OLED Endless Edge display. There's also a good, but not great, suite of cameras available and a decent 4500mAh battery that'll boast a full day of charge. It won't beat the competition in terms of performance, but it certainly looks better!

The Motorola Edge seems to be a mid-range phone imitating a premium one; it doesn’t do a flawless job at that, with a few rough edges like its fingerprint sensor which isn’t too easy to use, and cameras which take pictures that seem worse off than the specs would suggest. However this is still far from your average mid-range phone, as it feels great and looks good.

The vanilla Edge is great on that price, and we do recommend it. The Motorola's recent sabbatical from the upper mid-range tier could be the only thing standing in the way of the new Edge series. And that's why it just may take some time for people to regain their trust in Motorola's high-end phones.

Determined to put a lid on the ever-increasing 5G phone prices, Motorola opted for the next best alternative to Snapdragon 865 with its new Edge phone, and equipped it with the more cost-efficient Snapdragon 765 instead, Qualcomm's first integrated 5G chipset. It also added a huge battery, 64MP camera, and... a headphone jack, for one of the most complete $700 packages you can find on a 5G-capable phone.

Motorola might have been drowning in the mid-range category for some time now, but it looks like they are trying to pick up the pieces and start fresh. The Motorola Edge is a mid-range smartphone that was announced in April 2020. The Motorola engineering team claimed to have packed their powerhouse technology into the Motorola Edge, which is their boldest smartphone yet. It has two colour options, namely Solar Black and Midnight Magenta. Regarding the display, the Motorola Edge is stretching a 6.7” build and wrapping nearly 90° around both sides, making the Endless Edge display deliver breath-taking views and maximizing the viewing area. Users can see a billion shades of colour with HDR10 and scroll smoothly with a 90Hz refresh rate. Aside from that, users can take remarkably sharp pictures with the 64MP sensor, the highest camera resolution in its class. Users can see the results shine even in darker conditions thanks to Quad-Pixel technology and 4x better low-light sensitivity. The Motorola Edge is capable of capturing high-res photos with up to 64 MP, letting users crop or blow up an image without losing clarity. The ultra-wide-angle lens, high-res optical zoom, and Macro Vision let users capture incredible shots no matter the environment.
As for the performance, users can experience pure speed with the next-gen wireless network, plus an insanely fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 processor, 6 GB of memory, and 128 GB of storage. It runs on a streamlined version of the world’s most popular stock Android OS, with no unnecessary software and a tight integration with Google services. The Motorola Edge also has an award-winning sound system. It features two powerful stereo speakers that produce the highest audio output ever, and an audio-tuning technology from Waves, which is a recipient of a Technical GRAMMY® Award. It is capable of delivering professional-quality sonic performance. Aside from that, it has a fingerprint reader on the display as well as face unlock. Users can go for two full days with the class-leading 4,500mAh battery and fuel up ridiculously fast with 18W TurboPower charging. The display refresh rate can be brought down to 60Hz to further stretch the battery life. In conclusion, the Motorola Edge is a decent smartphone with a long battery life, a huge 6.7” endless edge screen and a great appearance that stands out. It is suitable for users who are looking for a high-performance smartphone mainly for entertainment usage.

Qualcomm Adreno 620: Integrated (in the Snapdragon 765 and 765G) graphics card based on the Adreno 600 architecture. Supports DirectX11_1, Vulkan 1.0, OpenCL 2.0, OpenGL ES 3.2. The 765G variant is 10% faster than the one integrated in the 765 and 20% faster than the Adreno 618 predecessor.

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.
