TP-Link is complementing the compact TL-WR1502X with a more powerful and portable Wi-Fi router that supports Wi-Fi 7 for the first time. This allows it to reach bandwidths of up to 3.6 Gbps when the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channels are combined. According to TP-Link, the router can handle up to 90 wireless devices.
For use on the go, the router can be conveniently powered via USB-C, or with a power bank if needed. A USB-A port, which achieves data rates of up to 5 Gbps, allows users to connect a 5G modem or a compatible smartphone for wireless internet access. Alternatively, a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port is available. As usual, it is also possible to connect the router to an existing Wi-Fi network via the corresponding smartphone app.
This is useful, for example, for connecting all devices to the router's Wi-Fi network in advance so that the router only needs to be connected to a public network at an airport or hotel, rather than each device individually. With support for OpenVPN and WireGuard, the router can be combined with over 35 VPN services. Alternatively, the USB port also allows you to share an external hard drive on the network.
