Microsoft has finally released the Xbox Adaptive Joystick. To recap, the company showcased the Adaptive Joystick last August alongside the Lite SE 2.4G Wireless Controller (curr. $59.99 on Amazon) that it designed in collaboration with 8BitDo.
As the video below shows, the Xbox Adaptive Joystick has a joystick, four face buttons and two rear-mounted buttons. Labelled X1 through X6, the buttons are fully customisable just like on the Xbox Adaptive Controller. To that end, the Adaptive Joystick can be used with the Adaptive Controller, as well as on its own or linked with an Xbox controller.
Alternatively, the controller can be mounted using a 1/4-20” threaded mount. Please note that the Xbox Adaptive Joystick does not contain any built-in batteries. As a result, it only offers a wired experience. The Xbox Adaptive Joystick is available to order now for $29.99 in the US. For reference, Microsoft quotes the following actuation forces on its website:
- X1-X4 buttons: 130-gram force
- X5 button: 130-gram force
- X6 button: 130-gram force
- Joystick press button: 870-gram force
