Reviews for the MSI Prestige 14 i7-10710U
MSI has packed the Prestige 14 with a powerful 10th generation Intel Core processor and a mid-range NVIDIA GPU, despite the device being just 16 mm thick. Can such a slim and light laptop keep these components cool? Our initial tests suggest so. Read on to find out more in this hands-on review.

Archive.org versionWith so many layers of nuance, MSI’s Prestige 14 is not an easy laptop to review. We basically think the main fact that sets the Prestige 14 apart from the pack is its weight and the potential performance of the components inside.

Archive.org versionSo, the question you should ask yourself is how much every ounce matters to you. If you must have 6 cores and a GTX 1650 in as light a package as possible—and you’re willing to accept the limitation of the platform—we can heartily recommend the MSI Prestige 14. If, however, you’re ticked off by giving up any performance for “just” another 8 ounces, then you might want to look elsewhere.

Archive.org versionBut while MSI has missed its target market, the Prestige 14 is still a fine general-use laptop. It does well with everyday browsing, streaming, and light gaming. If you’re looking for an ultraportable device with a finish that turns heads, it’s a decent option — but you need to be willing to take some heat.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q: Mid range dedicated graphics card for thin and light laptops based on the GTX 1650 but with reduced clock speeds and power consumption. Uses the Turing architecture (TU117 chip in 12nm FFN) but without Raytracing or Tensor cores.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
