Reviews for the MSI Prestige A16 AI+ A3HMG-036
Last year, MSI introduced the Prestige 16 laptop featuring the Core Ultra 155H processor. Now, an AMD-powered A16 variant has arrived, equipped with a Ryzen 9 processor and an NPU (Copilot+), priced at €1,599. This new model makes a significant leap forward in performance. However, the AMD version isn't without its trade-offs compared to its Intel counterpart. Here's a closer look!

For its price, the Prestige A16 AI+ represents very good value, delivering a well-made package with impressive performance, long battery life, a comprehensive keyboard and a bright, colourful IPS display. Given that MSI seems to have been so careful to tick all the boxes that a demanding business user wants to see ticked, it's surprising that it didn't feel the need to fit a second SSD mount or to install a rather better sound system. Of course, unless you plan on storing masses of data on your laptop or using it to listen to Wagner, both those failings may pass you by unmarked.

The MSI Prestige A16 AI+ boasts strong overall performance, a great display, and a solid keyboard, but it falls short of perfection due to a relatively bulky design and mediocre battery life. Those flaws won't be deal breakers for every business user, but there's tough competition in this price range. However, when it comes to basic work-related tasks, the MSI Prestige A16 AI+ has a few things going for it. The built-in webcam is surprisingly good, perfect for anyone who frequently attends video meetings. The full-size keyboard is also a major plus, great for anyone who does data entry. Lastly, the sharp, vivid 16-inch display not only looks pretty but offers space for multiple windows and gets bright enough for viewing in brightly lit office spaces.

AMD Radeon 880M: A fairly powerful RDNA 3.5 architecture iGPU that debuted in June 2024 and a direct successor to the Radeon 780M. Its 12 CUs/WGPs (768 unified shaders) run at up to 2,900 MHz. DX12 Ultimate, ray tracing, AI image generation and other modern features are all supported here, as are many popular video codecs including first and foremost AVC, HEVC, VP9 and AV1. Its gaming performance is good enough for playing 2024 games such as Once Human and The First Descendant at 1080p on low graphics settings.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
