Xiaomi started sending out the MIUI 12 update to its phones around May. Since then, the company has delivered the update to most of its phones, albeit only after some fuss and stumbling blocks in some cases. For some reason, however, the company isn't moving on to MIUI 13 as one would expect.
Instead, Xiaomi is set to unveil the newest version of its software—MIUI 12.5. According to Xiaomi Head of Software Development Jin Fan, Xiaomi will lift the veil on MIUI 12.5 sometime this month. No date is given but recent information gives an idea as to when that will be.
Going by reports from last week, Xiaomi will launch the Mi 11 series on December 29. As such, there's a huge chance that the company also releases MIUI 12.5 on that date, with the new flagship phones sporting the software. That's an industry-wide trend, with companies like Huawei and Samsung all debuting new software alongside new flagship releases.
