Alleged Xiaomi Mi 11 demo unit and leaked screen protector offer fuller picture of the upcoming Mi 11 flagship smartphone
As the rumored launch date (Dec 29) for the Xiaomi Mi 11 grows closer, it’s only natural that more details and images would be leaked. This time around we have a photo of an alleged demo unit and images of the Mi 11’s screen protector (see below). The latter images show that the Xiaomi smartphone will have a quad-curved display but will not be bearing the company’s eagerly awaited under-display camera technology. There is a cutout in the top left-hand corner for a selfie camera.
The live image of the Xiaomi Mi 11 demo model is more interesting, although it has been labeled “fake” by at least one source, so a pinch of salt is required here. The details displayed on the smartphone reveal the already-expected presence of a Snapdragon 888 and an 8 GB + 128 GB memory/storage configuration. There’s mention of 2x 2,250-mAh batteries and the 6.67-inch screen offers a 2560x1600 resolution. Unsurprisingly, this supposed Mi 11 demo unit is operating on MIUI 12.
However, there are some reasons to believe it is just a mock-up by someone wanting to grab some of the attention from all the hype surrounding the Xiaomi Mi 11 series. For instance, the screen protector, which is much more likely to be genuine, has a different size and location for the front-facing camera than the purported Mi 11 demo phone. Also, it is the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro that has a 6.67-inch screen whereas the Mi 11 is believed to be slightly larger at 6.76 inches. Photoshop job or not, it does indicate what is expected from the Xiaomi device, and at least the truth should be revealed before the end of the month.
