When it comes to compact 13-inch business laptops, the three big companies Dell, HP, and Lenovo are competing for business customers. We have reviewed the current Lenovo ThinkPad X13 G6 as well as the Dell Pro 13 Premium, which are direct rivals. Both offer compact and lightweight cases as well as low-power Full-HD screens. If you look closer, however, there are actually some bigger differences and a clear winner.
We reviewed the AMD model of the ThinkPad X13 G6, while the Dell Pro 13 Premium was equipped with an Intel Lunar Lake processor (both models top out at 32 GB RAM). The Lunar Lake processor falls slightly behind in terms of pure CPU performance (especially multi-core), but the Lunar Lake chip can still handle standard office tasks with ease. The integrated Intel GPU is also a bit more powerful than the Radeon 860M.
The displays of both models are very similar, because both Dell and Lenovo use low-power IPS screens with the Full-HD resolution and the image quality is okay for work purposes. Lenovo does not offer any optional screens, but Dell also offers an optional 1600p model, which also offers better brightness values in addition to the higher resolution. This does affect the battery runtimes, but Dell does have a major advantage over Lenovo in this respect anyway. Dell's Pro 13 Premium with the 1080p screen manages 24 hours in our Wi-Fi test and still 17 hours with the QHD screen. The ThinkPad X13 AMD on the other hand only manages 12 hours with the 1080p panel.
All in all, the Dell Pro 13 Premium is the better overall package and Lenovo has to step up to stay competitive. Please see our comprehensive review of the new ThinkPad X13 G6 for more information.
